look back at last quarter
big things, small things, new things from the past three months
Since I moved to San Francisco, the passage of time has become more imperceptible. The city is surrounded by water which envelops the peninsula in stable temperatures and nurtures hardy evergreen flora to grow all year round. There are no stark signs to mark that the season has turned. In SF, seasons become the backdrop to time’s progression.
But, in Texas, it’s clear—it’s April! When I flew back to Texas for the total eclipse, 80º air greeted me in a very warm embrace in Texas. I swapped my yoga pants for shorts and folded up my padded insulated jacket back into my suitcase. Seasons, I’ve missed you. You're like an old friend that I haven’t seen in a year. Of course I’m going to be excited to see you, unless you come bearing the 100º heat then perhaps I’ll see you another time.
With this reminder of spring in full swing, I thought I’d do another look back at the last few months and reminisce on the big and small things that have kept me busy.
Big things
Unwillingly skiing my first black run in Whistler and not eating shit. I call that a win.
Sightseeing, eating, shopping ‘til I drop in Tokyo and Kyoto (note to self: wear tennis shoes next time)
Switching teams and starting my last and final PM rotation on the AI platform team
Chasing the total eclipse in Dallas and Indiana and visiting me and S’s family

Small things
Devouring soft serve matcha ice cream every day at 5 different locations in Japan
Taking weekend ski trips to Tahoe and arriving at the Airbnb at 1 am because of a snowstorm
Watching movies with the girls and losing our minds in the process
Celebrating birthdays during the entire month of February
Eating dim sum at Dragon Beaux for Lunar New Year
Catching up with long-distance college friends on Facetime and Letterloop
Trying the most delicious food in LA K-town during an offsite
Sipping non-caffeinated tea at night while having late-night talks

New things
Picking up writing again slowly but surely at SF writing club
Establishing a skincare routine after years of doing absolutely nothing because I bought lots of products from Don Quijote after being advised to do so on Tik Tok
Getting groceries at the Costco in SoMa because the quality is way better
Wearing new clothes I bought from Uniqlo, GU, and Lululemon in Tokyo because they are not only affordable but actually fit me
Sharing my life with friends on Lapse after refusing to use it because of how excruciating the setup is (I’ve folded and added the camera widget to my home screen)
Happy spring and the new beginnings it brings 🌷🌱🌼🐰🌿😌
